Bodies & Cosmos- A Dallas Morning

05 Mar

We went to see Bodies- The Exhibition in Dallas.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you MUST check the link.  They are very guarded about their site photos and do not allow photography in the exhibit.

This was an absolutely amazing opportunity to see actual preserved cadavers sectioned in different ways to look at the skeletal, muscular, nervous, urinary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and you-name-it systems!  We saw healthy lungs and those severely damaged by years of smoking.  We saw actual fetal development from 8 weeks to term.  Truly a phenomenal learning experience for all of us.

While in the West End, we noticed a crowd gathering and some techo music and decided to check it out.  We approached to find a man with a mask creating art in the most amazing way!  Cosmo (aka Martin Martinez) uses spray paint, lids of cans, and scraps of paper to create really wild galaxy-scapes.  While the art didn’t really suit my taste (though I couldn’t do it and do find them pretty amazing to look at), watching him create them is truly a show.  Check out his myspace to see videos of him in action- wild.

I REALLY want to see that, but I’m afraid that it would be creepy for one of my boys who is visually sensitive. 😦 It was here for awhile… guess it left!
