Halloween day is always so strange- filled with eagerness for a short-lived costumed jaunt for candy. We made a concerted effort to lay low during the day so that the kids would be ripe and ready for trick-or-treat time.
Pajama-clad Elijah spent most of the day building robots and spaceships with Legos.
We also read quite a few books in our library stack and Sadie was inspired to decorate hard-boiled eggs. Yes, I just happened to have an egg dying kit in the cupboard.
Sadie wanted to be a butterfly princess fairy for Halloween. The face crayons that we have would just not do the trick for the artistry that she required (also from a library book- face painting). So we ventured out and picked up cold cream, food coloring, and cornstarch and made our own with the colors that she wanted. It turned out (as you can imagine) very wet but worked well for the amount of time that she could keep herself from rubbing her face. The best part? The base is cold cream so it came right off with one swipe. We’re hoping to find some quality face paints soon that will dry to the skin.
We went to the mall to trick-or-treat with Declan, Liam, and Alistair. Here the kids pose in the parking lot. The few pictures that I took in the mall came out very dark but it was a fun time wandering around the mall and getting candy from people sitting out in front of most of the stores. Happy Halloween!
