Yes, here in Texas, it feels like spring. The days are warm (though windy!) and we must prepare for spring planting early lest we miss out! So we are planning our vegetable garden which we have been talking about for years. It’s finally happening. We’re using a blend of a couple of different plans as well as some of our own ingenuity and flair. Our recycling (take-out containers, juice and milk jugs, fruit containers, etc.) are our planters for sowing the seeds and each must be rigged specifically to allow for drainage, condensation, and air transpiration. And, because we are sowing our seeds outdoors, we had to find a way to keep them anchored so they don’t blow away in this wind (like our huge grill has done 3 times in the last 2 days)! We will be following the guidelines for Square Foot Gardening and will be building our grid soon! Here are the seeds the kids chose:
The carrots have already sprouted and we’re waiting with baited breath on the others!
