What Are We Up To? July 21, 2008

Lijey held a monster truck beauty pageant. There was also an airplane/helicopter beauty pageant of which I don’t have a picture. I was asked to judge but asked Lijey to clarify the criteria. He said, quite simply, “which one is the prettiest?”

Sadie is enjoying her Magnadoodle because, “it doesn’t waste the Earth.” This is a picture that she drew of Chris playing basketball.

We have been cleaning up and clearing out- utilizing the Goodwill and various consignment shops. Outgrown clothes are on the chopping block. Both Sadie and Elijah were distraught over a particular piece of their own clothing and asked to keep them to turn into something else. Here is Sadie sewing decorations on her old pair of pants. She has since helped to turn them into a pillow and has plans to decorate them further.

Here Elijah allows Sadie to help him stuff the shorts that he couldn’t part with which were turned into a pillow for his babies (stuffed animals).

Elijah made a maze around the house with a skein of string which we had to follow up, down, and around. And he rolled it all up when he was done!

Sadie stacks and stacks the big blocks. She called this her “displation” and was very proud. It took quite a bit of balance as she continued to stack odd shapes to achieve different lines.

Elijah shows Sadie his bottle cap collection and counts each one. For a while he knew when and from whence each had come but now there are just too many (quickly approaching 60). As you can see, Mama and Daddy have been drinking a lot of Gatorade (the orange caps).

Sadie has been wanting a little reading lamp for her room. While at the Goodwill, we were able to pair a lamp with a cute little shade and then glued some beads around the shade. She is ecstatic and loves that she is helping the Earth by reusing while also saving money (we saved over $20).
