Halloween came at the tail end of our travels and travellers so last minute was the name of the game. It may have been better for the kids as all their (tremendous) excitement was packed into a couple of days preparation rather than weeks.
We went trick-or-treating with our friends Anna (Baby Bear) and Gretchen (Goldilocks) and Elijah and Sadie chose different costumes. Sadie was actually all set to go as a doctor (naturopath of course ;) and changed to a fairy princess as we were walking out the door. Elijah opted for the dragon over the ghost that proved not to be practical as he couldn’t see where he was going (see below).

Our LEAP group had a Halloween party at Bear Creek Park. The setting and the weather were perfect. The kids (over 20 of them!) made Halloween art on foam and bobbed for apples in addition to playing on the playground, digging in the dirt, and just plain running around.

Chris’ brother, Scott, sister-in-law, Kim, and our niece, yet-to-be-named, came to Texas to do a little visiting! We had a great time catching up and the kids were thrilled to go to the zoo again!

We hooked up with our New Hampshire friends for a good old fashioned 2Cool playdate at the Doherty homestead. What fun! Though New Hampshire as a physical place no longer feels like home, our hearts were home in the company of our friends. We miss y’all!

On the last beautiful day of our New England rounds, we met up with my brother Jason’s family at The Apple Barn in Bennington, VT for some visiting (and apple cider doughnuts- mmmmm!).

Here Elijah and Emmie stretch to try to pick a leaf.

Sadie attempting to help Ian to an upright position.

The kids used the strawberry patch rows as lanes for their races.

How tall this fall? Well, Emmie is about 3 1/2 feet. The other two hambones never got close enough to tell. And I think Sadie’s cheating…

Hey Ian, “Ready, Set…..GO! GO!”

What fun we had with Chris’ parents while in Bedford, NH! As you can see, the kids were pretty excited to rake leaves- too bad they couldn’t be more help to their grandparents whose trees are shedding like mad in the cool autumn weather. We had beautiful temperatures the whole week and the foliage was extraordinary! The desolate off-season arcade at Weirs Beach was a great time!

We all took a cruise on the M/S Mt. Washington on Lake Winnipesaukee in central NH. It was gorgeous to look over the water at the colors of the foliage and impressive summer homes on the lake. What a lovely way to spend an autumn day in NH. Thank you Mom and Joe!

Elijah’s skeeball wind-up is a must see!!!!
