The bike Santa (read Me) was ecstatic to give Elijah for Christmas. The one for which the statement, “Mommy, I’ll ride that bike when I’m five,” has been used interminably to console me because he has been adamantly opposed to getting on it. He pulled it out the other day and immediately rode like a pro. He has no fear, rides like he’s been doing it for years, and says, “I’m all right! I just tipped over!” when he falls down. He rode to Lowe’s with us this morning and then all around the outdoor garden center. If he had his choice, he’d just glue his little bottom right to the seat.

The front of the house as Sadie, Chris, Sarah’s Mom and brother Jason have a friendly southern chat with our realtor.

Chris and the kids admire the pool/spa in the backyard of “our big house.” The kids were so excited after seeing their new bedrooms and the tropical backyard, they continue to request to go there. Sadie wants “those other people to move out.”

We hit many McDonald’s PlayPlaces (one need not eat there to play there….). As you go South, they’re outside! The kids thought that was great until we got rained on….

Thank goodness for the portable DVD player. Elijah watched Cars and the 2 Toy Storys about 50 times on the way south. His giggles from the backseat and narrations of the next scene were humorous.

Sadie took good long naps in the late morning and early evening which inevitably affected her bedtimes on the road.

She spent most of the rest of her days creating artwork- some of which was right on her body. We got some interesting looks at the truck stops the day she drew all over herself with markers.

We took frequent potty breaks- some of which were right off the exits for lack of a (clean) bathroom.

Sadie and Elijah were ecstatic when the truck finally arrived. They were so tired of talking about the move without any evidence to back it up. The truck made it real and the excitement and true anticipation began.

What a great Easter! Despite the chill, the kids loved hunting for eggs and hanging out with their friends at the Doherty’s. After hunting for their Easter baskets at our house, we all had a grand time with our friends over a delicious brunch. Follow that up with egg hunting and dinner at Grammy and Grampa Murphy’s and we had a busy and egg-filled day!

Dying eggs while snacking- we were careful not to dye our snacks! ;)
