Outdoor Play April 28, 2007
After ’soccer practice’ yesterday, Elijah insisted on going out and getting his own ball to practice. And practice he did. He instructed me (as he saw the coach do yesterday) to step through to the ball and then listen for the sound of the top of the foot connecting with the ball.

We hit the hot tub for a bit which was nice as it was the first dip of the season and then moved over to the pool.
Southlake Town Center April 28, 2007
We went to Southlake Town Center to blow bubbles and check it out. We got more than we bargained for! An art exposition was being set up for the weekend! We viewed some art and then had to be more strategic about our bubble blowing location- not sure how paintings, etc. feel about bubbles. It was a beautiful day.

One of many long horn cattle statues individually decorated by artisans that are on display in Southlake Town Center- a beautiful outdoor mall area.
An ice cream break after an entire bottle of bubbles went up over the town center’s art extravaganza.
Soccer Anyone? April 28, 2007
We were invited to a homeschool soccer practice at a lovely park in Hurst. We arrived early to survey the scene and hang out a little. Check out what we found! Very little soccer went on for the kids as they are adjusting to a new group of children. We had a great time mingling with the wildlife, though!

TWISTER! April 28, 2007

Elijah got curious about what the colors were on Texas before bed this night. We sat by the television waiting to hear whether we needed to find an interior room and take shelter- that’s us in the eye of the storm. The clouds rolled in like nuclear fallout on a TV drama and the thunder, lightning, and sheets of rain were highly impressive and a little frightening. Darkness only allows meteorologists to sight funnel clouds by the light of lightning flashes so there was that wonder of if and when… Yes, despite this recent excitement, we still love Texas.
Miscellaneous Apartment Antics April 28, 2007
Elijah watches a pair of mourning doves sitting on the patio railing. He wanted to take a picture of them- see left.

The playground at Grand Estates. The kids make the most of this little area with a heavy dose of imagination.
Pajama Play-Dough. Some candy sticks pilfered from the kitchen drawer turned into Play-Dough porcupines (Elijah) and fancy lollipops (Sadie).
The Fort Worth Zoo April 23, 2007
Are those the kids?
These are just two of the amazing animals we saw today at the Fort Worth Zoo. Chris was feeling spontaneous this morning so we packed off to the zoo. It was fabulous! What gorgeous habitats. It was obvious that the animals are happy and well-cared for.

The kids had a great time checking out all the different animals and learning little fun facts. Both declare their favorite animal of all to be the otter- a playful little show-off.
The Carnival Comes to Town April 23, 2007
The carnival came to Keller- right across the street from our apartment complex. It was great fun!

Elijah and Chris rode the elephants. Once Elijah was shown how to make it go up, their elephant never came down!
Sadie and I rode in giant dragon teacups with a young man who loved to spin!
A mid-carnival snack of grapes and the coveted popcorn. We were sitting right across the street from our apartment complex- see way right. The kids drooled over this carnival for days as it was being set up.
Future in forensics? April 23, 2007
The kids just love to have their outlines drawn. To color on them? To paint on them? Nope. To lay them on the living room floor and walk by them without noticing unless someone picks them up. OK- occasionally they compare their heights. Could this be a fascination with human chalk outlines? I swear they’ve never seen CSI…
